On 6 August 1889 Richard D’Oyly Carte opened the doors to the first luxury hotel in London, The Savoy. Many more ‘firsts’ have paved the way since; it was the first hotel to have electric lifts, the first to offer musical entertainment to diners, and the first to offer its guests room service. Almost 130 years later, The Savoy continues to introduce firsts to ensure it remains at the forefront of service excellence.
